Ecstasy

Ecstasy is a drug that produces many different effects, all which occur within the brain, therefore ecstasy does quite a lot of brain damage, when ingested. Ecstasy came on the "rave" scene about over a decade ago. Ecstasy use has been on the rise since then. Ecstasy is reported as being one of the most damaging drugs on the market. The brain cells are immediately affected when ecstasy is ingested.

This drug has made one of the largest impacts on the younger generation since marijuana in the seventies. The club scene is an environment conducive to the use of ecstasy. This is why when you walk into a club anywhere in the U.S., or the world for that matter, ecstasy is there and available for purchasing. This is also the reason why more and more of our young people are dying yearly. Ecstasy is leaving broken homes and dead bodies in its destructive path.

Ecstasy produces an effect sought after by many young people. These effects include euphoria, increased empathy for others, and a feeling of well-being. These are emotions that the majority of the youth today are not experiencing naturally. The reason they search for ecstasy is the reason just stated.

With these desirable feelings comes the flip side of ecstasy abuse. The body may experience nausea, clinched teeth, blurred vision, sweating, along with the chills, and muscle tension. The mind is also affected. These effects are paranoia, anxiety, depression, and problems sleeping. The long-term damage is the loss of memory, critical thinking, and even the desensitization of what used to be pleasurable to them.

All of these effects are extremely detrimental to the human being. They all lead to one effected more permanent than brain damage, more sever than depression, and more intense than muscle tension. This effect is death. Yes, the use of ecstasy is death by over dose. The body is put through so much punishment over the period of use that eventually it can't take it anymore and consequently it shuts down- it dies.

More and more young people are becoming addicted to ecstasy everyday. In the beginning of the abuse it starts as recreational. Then the use escalates into abuse. After that the tolerance builds until the body is physically addicted to the substance. As the bodies tolerance grows, the user of ecstasy begins to experiment with the drug. They begin combining it with other illicit drugs, such as LSD. This combination is known as "candy-flippin'". The effects produced by "candy-flippin'" are very intense. They are also fatal.

This cycle of use and more use can be stopped. The most effective tool for stopping addiction is through treatment.
